Dr. SherAli Tareen recently published a new book titled Perilous Intimacies: Debating Hindu-Muslim Friendship after Empire. The book explores how leading South Asian Muslim thinkers imagined and contested the boundaries of Hindu-Muslim friendship from the late eighteenth to the mid-twentieth centuries.

Dr. Kamran Ali recently published a new book titled Towards Peoples' Histories in Pakistan - (In)audible Voices, Forgotten Pasts. The book explores the histories and lives of the people of Pakistan, focusing on Pakistan's social and cultural life. By critically examining both leftist and nationalist thought, the book also explores competing visions of what is meant by 'the people' and charts new ground in developing the promise of people's histories both within Pakistan and beyond.

Nelofar Khamisani is a graduate student in curriculum and instruction. Her dissertation focuses on rural education, the patriarchal learning environment, and literacy teaching strategies for English language learners. This year, she received the Alumni Leadership Award, Social Justice Advocacy Award for the department of curriculum and instruction and the Alumni Scholarship Award at K-State.

On March 27, 2023, Mrs. Khamisani presented successfully at the Critical Question in Education conference. Taking place in San Diego, California, the theme for the conference was "Changing the Narrative about Teaching." Mrs. Khamisani's presentation was "Let Teachers Admire: Stories about Teachers and Students" and focused on the experiences of both students and teachers when Covid-19 policies first began to affect schools.
