AIPS Announces Call for 2016 Junior Scholars Conference!

American Institute of Pakistan Studies (AIPS) is pleased to announce its second Annual Junior Scholars Pakistan Studies Conference, which will take place as a pre-conference to the 45th Annual Conference on South Asia. The conference will be held on Thursday October 20, 2016 in Madison, Wisconsin. This one-day conference is expected to bring together junior scholars who are based in the social sciences and the humanities primarily in the US academia (no Citizenship requirement). AIPS encourages abstracts from (but not restricted to) disciplines such as anthropology, sociology, political science, history, literature, religious studies, art history, music, women studies, film and communications studies, etc. Graduate Students who are enrolled in a PhD program in a US academic institution and have ABD status, especially those writing their dissertations are encouraged to apply. So are Post-Doctoral candidates who completed their PhD in and after 2013.

Interested and qualifying candidates should submit an abstract (not exceeding 250 words) and a short bio, which mentions their institution, disciplinary background, and, in case of graduate students, a short letter from your supervisor attesting to your ABD status to Laura Hammond, AIPS U.S. Director at aips@pakistanstudies-aips.org by June 15, 2016. AIPS has funds to supplement domestic US travel and to provide accommodations for two nights for selected scholars (10-12 in total). So, be sure to take advantage of it while the funds last!
