Welcome to AIPS

The American Institute of Pakistan Studies (AIPS), established in 1973, is a bi-national research and education organization with a mission to promote academic study of Pakistan in the US and to encourage scholarly exchange between the US and Pakistan.

It is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt, autonomous organization and a member of the Council of American Overseas Research Centers.

AIPS 2013-14 Short-Term Fellows Awarded

Congratulations to the recipients of AIPS's first round of awardees for 2013-2014 Short-Term Fellowships!

  • Dr. Cabeiri Robinson, Professor at University of Washington, awarded 4 months in Islamabad
  • Dr. Marcia Hermansen, Professor at Loyola University Chicago, awarded 3 months in Islamabad
  • Muntasir Sattar, PhD candidate at Columbia University, awarded 3 months in Lahore
  • Dr. Syed Akbar Hyder, Associate Professor at University of Texas at Austin, awarded 2 months in Lahore

Short-Term Fellowships are funded by Public Affairs Section, American Embassy, Islamabad, Pakistan

AIPS 2013-14 Long-Term Fellows Awarded

AIPS is pleased to announce the awardees for the 2013-2014 Long-Term Fellowship!

  • Andrew Amstutz, Junior Fellow from Cornell University, awarded 8 months in Dhaka, New Delhi, Mumbai, Aligarh, and Patna
  • Sameer Lalwani, Junior Fellow from Syracuse University, awarded 2 months in London
  • Sean Killen, Junior Fellow from the University of Texas at Austin, awarded 5 months in the UK, India, Switzerland, and the Netherlands

AIPS is delighted to be able to offer research/travel grants to Pakistan for summer of 2013. These grants are open to all and we strongly encourage graduate students enrolled in a US university to apply.
